Royal Hotel, Mount Hope NSW

Gday...

There is a good roadside camp at the Royal Hotel at Mount Hope ... mid-way between Cobar (160Km north) and Hilston NSW (95Km south) on the Kidman Way.

CAMPS 8, NSW Site 937 32 50 24 S 145 52 47 E

There are flushing toilets and showers at the hotel (no charge), no dump point and no grey water restrictions. There is no posted time limit for staying.

[edit: there was 3G Telstra internet/mobile access]

This is a large fairly open area. Even though it is close to the highway it was surprisingly quiet.

Here are some photos for your information.

Cheers - John

Hi John we stayed there back in 2003 I think it was, had a very memorable night on our way out to Mungo Lake. Where the showers are it was fairly over grown bush with an old truck parked there, looks like it had a bit of a clean up, it was a great atmosphere. At the time we were there, it was free if you had a meal or supported the bar. As we were loaded with food we offered to pay for showers. After having dinner we went in for a drink and pay the $5 for the showers, thats when the memories started.

The owners were away for a couple of nights when we were there, as the night was drawing to a close, I asked for a glass of port before going to bed on this chilly night. The farmers wife from down the road, like 80ks down the road who was still driving a 1964 EH Holden wagon,  who was looking after the show said to me yes after looking around here and there, we do have a port, picks up a flagon of port from under the counter, holds up a midy and a schooner glass then said "which one", my instant response was "do you have anything smaller", she fried back quick as a wink, "well I could half fill the smaller one, just the same it will still cost you $2 thank you"

Great night, windy and cold but a great memory.
