Solar Cooking

I just bought a solar cooker -  a SUN OVEN made in the USA.

Cooks stews,  roasts,  even bread.

Should be here in about 2 weeks via ebay Global Shipping,  which means that Star Track will deliver.

btw,  it is cheaper to buy off ebay than direct,  there are several sellers with shipping to Australia,  just do a search in Australian ebay.

Cant wait to try it out in the Queensland sunshine.

Also found an excellent Solar cooking FB group:

Very intersting cooker David. You always come up with interesting ways of cooking in the playground and at home I spose.

I will stick with my Baby Q but see how handy that solar cooker would be.

I also watched the video on simplest solar cooker, also interesting.

Thanks Doug.

Our Baby Q is most used when camping.  Have Family Q at home on the front deck and Weber Kettle out the back.

Stayed at Bongaree Caravan Park recently on Bribie Island,  every other van had a Baby Q!  Quite amazing.

Be interesting to see how this free power cooking from the sun goes.

Will post up some photos and updates when I use the SUN OVEN.

Thanks for your interest.

We bought a solar cooker similar to this one a few years ago, at a garage sale. It worked Ok when I tested it, but I found out it's a good idea to wear very dark sun glasses when you're setting it up. I should dig it out of the shed and have a play with it again.

Based upon the generally high opinion expressed by such as , and not only, your good self I went and bought me a Baby Q. I have put a few bakes and frys through it and, joy oh joy, it is a piece of machinery fit for purpose.

Back when I had 240v I worshipped my Breville Toaster oven; erstwhile deliverer of roast, pizza and cake. The Baby Q has the potential to do that but it is me who needs to get the cake, focaccia , Pita, ploughmans loaf technology happening.

I was a bit charry at the 300 bucks knowing that often the price tag often fail to reflect the quality of the product. I looked it over and the engineering is way OK. What is better there seemed to be no wriggle room on price so I was glad to fork our my cash to a bloke that lives in my community and that bit of cash flow keeps him and his afloat.

Go Baby Q !!

Mine has been working for years.  In fact, the one I have now in Tasmania works better than the one I had I Qld.
