PROTECT THE LIFE OF YOUR 12VOLT WATER PUMP BY;

Fitting a $12 mini 12volt relay switch between the presure controlled micro switch & the pumps electric motor.

This means that the relay carries the power load for the motor, instead of the micro switch. This eliminates the burnout of the micro switch.

Great idea, but on our pump all the wiring is hidden inside a moulded cover on the pump and I'd imagine it's all on a PC board. Can you expand this a bit as what you propose seems pretty good to me.

 Not familiar with this type of pump or what brand it is, however if there is a cover then it must be able to be removed & inspect the wiring system.

There will be wires going in at some point, so quite possibile to fit another couple of wires throught he same provision. Only need to be able to bring the power wire from the micro switch out to the relay & a return power wire to the motor. The supply power wire from the house battery can be tapped into to power the relay. My pumps are running much quiter since doing this.

Thanks JC - I'll pull the pump out and see what the go is....I have a suspicion mine uses a reed switch actuated by a magnet attached to a diaphragm and the reed switch is on a PC board and very small. It's logical to use a relay wherever possible I'll agree. The pump is one of those small water pressure pumps that sell on Ebay for about $60....only pump about 6l/min.
