Miva - Dickabram Bridge

G'day all

We arrived this morning at the Dickabram Bridge in Miva QLD and what a spot. Free electric bbq, toilets and covered seating, lovely. Nice grassy area and lovely view to the Mary river and the bridge.

Seems to be a forgotten spot for free camping and please keep it a secret . Even threw a line from the bridge, no luck, but relaxing to do.

Excelent Optus reception because you can see the tower from here. Different with tv reception. Only managed SBS.

If you don't do anything the coming days, pop around for a cuppa.

Regards,

John & Marjoleine

Some years ago {20} we had a long week end camping {before caravan days} at Miva Station, right on the Mary River, great time if i remember. The Station then was opperational ,not sure if its even there now? must say you look very relaxed,

Just north of Gympie and slightly west of the Bruce Highway. About level with Tiaro I think it is JC.

 Gday...

Not in Camps 6 ... but if you put this in Google Maps    -25.954263,152.494526     it will show you where it is.

This was also in another post recently [here> http://thegreynomads.activeboard.com/t52597842/dickabram-bridge-miva-lat-259545-long152494/

Always a bit of nuisance when there end up being two posts on the same subject but not linked to each other.

Cheers - John

Looks a nice spot but how did finish there , Where had you come from and where are you heading , Or did you just seek the spot out I don't think I would go to the trouble of just detour to Miva

Hi All
We spent many years camping at Miva Station when our kids were younger . It was a working cattle station run by the Atherton Family and the Munna Munna creek ran through the property . The get there turn off at Gunalda ( nth of Gympie ) turn right at pub and follow signs . It closed for camping many years ago due to a problem with council . I have heard it is now open again but cant find any info .
Cheers

Gday...

A good example perhaps of how we each have differing requirements in the way we prefer to travel and camp.

Miva sounds exactly the sort of place I would "detour" to - especially between April and September in QLD. I seek out small inland towns away from where the 'tourists' visit and with either a low-cost van park or pleasant, quiet isolated camping area without the usual crowd.

I have certainly added it to my list of places to visit if I am travelling through/to that area again.

Cheers - John
