Monday 29th Janruary 2018 - beautiful blue sky this morning, with a prediction of 37 - it was very steamy, we had to go to the shops - left the hatch up in the motorhome, door open, then one of the windows of the car won't go up - yep - the 70% likelihood of a storm came through - by the time we got back in the car, and home with the driver getting drenched, was pelting down. Now changed, dried off and dried the floor, put a garbage bag over the window, but the seats are wet anyway. Not to worry.

We are near Avoca in NW Victoria, just off the Sunraysia Highway. Ground is that dry the water is not soaking in very well., so quite a few puddles and slippery spots around.

Hi, it has been raining the last 3 days. we r in a caravan park paying a fortune n all we can do is read or use the internet. Tv works but the rain is too loud on the roof to hear it. Went to monrepoe to see the turtles. No rain until we got to the beach. Just as well we had tracksuits n raincoats. But all things considered, we had 3 grandies sleep over one night. we had an amazing night seeing a turtle laying eggs, n were woken next morning with a grandie at my head saying nanny, mummy n daddy r here .Precious. Rain or shine, Love life.

Thanks guys,

Having a ball over here and will continue (with any luck) to see some more of this lovely country over the next 8 weeks.  Have some travel buddies turning up on 'the boat' in a couple of days.  May even get some fishing in too!!   Gwynnie  floating.gif

I do believe it was described by my husband, speaking to a friend in Nevada (where it had just snowed) as 'sweaty butt crack hot' the other day. I'd say it has been more 'rivers of sweat all over, then no sweat due to dehydration' hot. We're between Mitchell & Bollon QLD.

Extreme heat and severe storms in Queensland.....

Monday February 12, 2018 - 16:30 EDT

Some places in Queensland had their hottest day in four years on Monday as heatwave conditions intensify across the state.

As of 3pm EST, the highest temperature in the state was 45.4 degrees at Thargomindah. Rolleston (42.7C) and Rockhampton (41.0C) were both having their hottest day since 2014. This is also Rockhampton's hottest February day in 46 years.

Brisbane's apparent temperature at 3pm was 36 degrees, which was three degrees higher than the actual temperature due to humidity.

The heat will linger over Queensland for most of this week, producing a severe to extreme heatwave across most of the state.

Today's heat is also helping trigger thunderstorms in the southeast and warnings were issued shortly after 3pm for damaging winds in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett District.

Visit http://www.weatherzone.com.au/warnings.jsp for the latest storm warnings.

The following alert has been issued by the Department of Fire andEmergency Services (DFES).

Time of issue: 12:50 PM
Date of issue: 02 March 2018

If you live in or travelling in parts of the Goldfields and Eucla districts you should take action and stay safe with thunderstorms to come.

Locations which may be affected include Kalgoorlie, Balladonia, Kambalda and Menzies.

The overall weather pattern is not unusual for this time of year but severe weather may occur in some parts of the warning area.

IF DRIVING:

Do not drive into water of unknown depth and current.

Slow down, turn your lights on and keep a safe distance from other drivers.

Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen powerlines and loose debris.

If it is raining heavily and you cannot see, pull over and park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears.

Take care in areas that have been flooded and be careful driving on gravel roads as surfaces will be slippery and muddy, and vehicles could become bogged.

Gee Gwynnie, that rig looks good!

Here in Townsville, it's magic! As a lot of members may have seen, it has rained!!
And the dam is just over 80% full (a lot better than 14%) which means hopefully that L3 water restrictions will be lifted soon! At home, we received 413mm in the last 10 days; the northern suburbs got a LOT more.

So it's just "a bit humid" at the moment - especially when I was out mowing the rice paddy this afternoon!

Hi Warren & Pat, it has been a while since we chatted.  Thanks guys and yes I am very happy with my rig(finally) it suits my old ToJo perfectly  I am back from Tassie and on the main land again at Kangaroo Island in SA.  The weather here is a mixture of sunny, cloudy, windy and rainy!! Think it must be too close to Melbourne as it gets 4 seasons in the once day.  Will be here house sitting until first week in December!!!!              A beautiful part of Australia too!  Gwynnie  floating.gif  Take care.

30-32C and dry in Ballarat. Again. A bit of rain overnight would be good. Given up on the from lawn / nature strip. The crushed rock goes down late this month.

Yes Rusty, lovely day although a little warm for me. Our son is with Ballarat City Council in events management so it bodes well for him to have nice weather for a successful Begonia long weekend. thumbsup.gif
