Good post Joga! Often wondered why they took the pins out.

They removed the handle locks because, locking the pump handle open is an offence........Rick

We purchased a 12 volt fan on ebay. I installed above the bed, connecting to the wiring for the light above the bed. So can turn on light or fan to suit. Great $25 investment.
Also had our large dining table reduced in width and then had both pieces with hinges attached to still allow us to have the big table when necessary. Gives us heaps more room in the kitchen region of van.

After removing the old table (the one built by a blind blacksmith) I needed something lighter and more user friendly, I built one from an old ironing board. I chopped off the pointy end and topped it with a nice varnished plywood top. Pull the latch and it folds down and stores under the bed. p.s I even used it once for ironing.......Rick

We need headings on these handy tips so we can find them again. The mozzie one sounds great. When we put in a 3000lt tank we had to have a 35lt first flush pit. That's a mozzie breeding hole!

Cover the first flush pit with vegetable oil, mozzies cant get through it to breed, I have used it on rainwater tanks to stop the wrigglers. Skim the surface of the tank regularly and replenish with fresh (clean) oil...................Rick

Geez you have fancy buckets! I just use a nappy pail that has a good fitting lid, it does the job fine.

We purchase our OMO soap powder from Mitre 10's. Container holds 8 kg and is about the size of 15 litre container. This then comes with us on our travels, works out about $6 per kg. Also they now have a 8kg bucket of Drive for $43 which cost less than the Omo $6 bucket.

$ saved is $2 one does not have to earn.

We keep a small bucket in the back of the car with toilet paper, disinfectant hand wipes (some outback loos don't have water to wash hands and sometimes those seats just need a bit of a wipe before you sit) , bottle of water (for hand washing), roll of nappy bags or doggy doo bags (small rubbish bags for those things you should not drop in a "drop toilet") and liquid hand wash. Has come in handy many times.
Cheers

I think that Unilever who manufactures OMO ( I think) should be paying me to advertise their product.

But I would not hold my breath. We take two OMO  buckets with us.One covers the towball connection on the A frame of the Van.

And to finish.... You know the old saying when on the road.

""If you are having a bad day.... just try missing one.""

We have a motorhome so when we travel any noise from vibration is right there with you. To counteract this we use empty bladders from wine casks blown up like a balloon to cushion the noise of various rattles such as cutlery etc.

When it comes to sharp knives, we installed a knife magnet near the cooktop. Also installed a utensil rack with hooks for all the egg lifters etc. Plus a key ring holder for about 8 keys just above the exit door. I bought it all from one of those cheap as chips stores. The cost for all 3 around $20 the lot. Jay&Dee
