RE: PICK THIS PLACE

It is a rock island off of Whalers way at the bottom of Eyre peninsula and it is not a national park it is private property owned by the Theakstone family. This is a clip from their facebook page "Theakstone family, who have owned this 2600 hectare property with 14 kilometres of coastline since 1887. They operate a private tourist conservation park 32 kms south of Port Lincoln at the base of the Eyre Peninsula."

Sorry not Fitzgerald N.P. Not off Whalers way private property.

This area of a National Park was named by a very significant explorer as a direct result of tragedy. As far as I am aware still has a locked gate access & controlled visitor numbers. The N.P. is very well known but the key is the name of The Wilderness Area.

Wedding Cake Island off of Wanna cliffs. Sorry when you said a locked gate I thought of Whalers way. I live in the area but it has been years since I visited both. I didn't know that Wanna had a locked gate I thought it was on the way to memory cove.

I don't know Wedding Cake Is. What I was looking for was " Memory Cove Wilderness Area" that is part of Lincon N.P.

You are almost there so You can only put up half a picture LOL.

I was fortunate to get a permit for three nights camping at Memory Cove I am not an avid bird watcher but there I could understand how people get so absorbed. Pretty good scenery too.

Mike.

Hi Mike Wedding cake island is shown here off of Wanna http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/goodliving/posts/2016/04/5-treasures-lincoln-NP and if you look at this map Memory Cove wilderness protected area is quite a bit further on. I haven't been to Memory cove since my younger days I remember it was quite a trek down there, if my memory serves me correctly it was a single lane track further on from Wanna but Memory Cove was so pristine. What is the road like now?

Hi here is the other half of the answer to your half a picture.

We are on coast of NSW, you are standing on North Brother Mountain over looking Laurieton, Camden Head and North Haven with Bonny Head and Port Macquarie in the Distance.

Thank you Sandman55 for memory.

After a bit of judging, I am giving it to matildatraveller because the photo was taken from Glass House Moutains Lookout.

Over to you matildatraveller. Where next.

Thanks Radar it was a close call, sorry to take so long I was out old time dancing with the gang here on Kangaroo Island.    My daughter was married in Maleny and I remembered we went to the look out for wedding photos.  Has anyone seen these two characters and know where they live?   Gwynnie  floating.gif

A pure stab in the dark as I don't recall seeing the statues but the buildings reminds me of Winwill in Qld.

Hi Gail welcome, not sure if your guess is in relation to my photo?  But if it is then SA is not the state where these two wooden fellows live.  Gwynnie  floating.gif

Hi, correct guess and well done I felt the 'hill' would give it away, it was blown a gale for the following 4 days @ 45 knots at Stanley. So over to you!   Gwynnie  floating.gif

Hello All,

Just so that we are all on the same page, may I suggest that the Poster be reasonably clear as to what He/She is asking.  e.g. Where is this building? What would this river be?

Recently a question was " How is this one." sorry but  when one looks at the picture is it where the photographer is standing ? or what He / She is looking at ?

Mike.

Thanks guys, surprised I knew this photo so easily.  I have had many chances on guessing photos on 'Pick This Place.' So in fair play I will pass and hand it over the first person to put up the next photo.  I really enjoy the challenge of the game, not necessarily winning.   Go for it guys I look forward to seeing it!!   Gwynnie   floating.gif
