From your hint I think it could it be the Ottery arsenic mine site by any chance?  I have not been there myself yet. Gwynnie

You are correct Gwynnie it is the Ottery mine at Tent Hill near Emmaville NSW. Unlike your photo when we visited last year the area around the kilns is fenced. The white deposit on the bricks is arsenic trioxide which is used nowadays in treated pine.
