Just had happy hour drinks here at Murwillumbah showground with 2 other couples & found out a few more sites (I'm trying to stick to only powered ones as unpowered are well listed & powered caravan parks can be too pricey :

Quambatook, NW Vic, $8 per night, ensuites for all, check at the pub for a key and to pay.
Quambatook is one of those little rural towns affected severely by drought, and looks like God forgot about it and let the dust settle on everything. The people are nice and the pub does a great steak.
It's a town not far from Swan Hill - about 60kms.
They have a tractor pull carnival there every year, no sure when, so be careful you don't get caught up with that, well, unless you want to be part of the festivities and country fun. It's the only time the town runs out of room.

We like showgrounds for the space they offer, can take most big rigs and dogs.

I liked the look of the 21 footer with seperate loo and shower, but it failed my criteria in two respects, 2500 kgms was out of my tow range and and $68,000 is out of my price range, but show special, it came with a free awning

I spied the metalland display that was tucked in along side the humpback display, the dragon seen a large metal spider that was up for sale, sale price $149, special $79, she grabbed this dirty great thing a went to pay for it, "ah" says the young feller behind the stand "thats a display, this is the way they come"

he pulled out a hessian bag full of what looked like scrap steel, basically the spider was in bits proffesionally cut by a computer guided plasma torch, I said shove it up your bum but undeterred the dragon wanted the spider, she ended up getting it for $30, i had to lug the thing right back to the western car park, must have been a mile, it weighed in at 32 kilo's, nearly pulled my arm off

I have been spending all morning welding the damn puzzle together, 32 peices, I have just finished painting it, but it does look great I must admit,

now where to put it

Nah, not only couldn't I stretch the budget that far the extra weight would of been a problem.
We had first pick on the 20footer at the field day but Kerry didn,t like the colours and she also wanted a pantry fitted. the L shaped lounge is being shortened and the pantry put in between the lounge and bedroom walls.

I dont know of any comprehensive "list" of showgrounds that offer camping but I think most would, quorn in south aussie has a good one and it is in the bible

I am told that Temora in NSW, down near Wagga Wagga has camping at the showground, although we have never stayed there and don't know what the amenities are like

They also have two caravan parks operated by the council and if you stay two nights @ $25 per night then you get the third one free. Good parks, especially the one at the aviation museum and good amenities as well.

Does anyone know of a list or site that lists showgrounds that allow camping for caravans, motorhomes etc as they are a handy & cheap place to camp. We are in NSW now & know of a few which I will list below
Coffs Harbour
Glen Innis
Grafton racecourse (i think)
Murwillumbah
Kyogle
Tenterfield

We are about to leave the Murwillumbah one which we throughly enjoyed but haven't been to the last 2 yet, we were told about them by a fellow nomad.
If there isn't a list available would it be possible for you seasoned travellers to list some here on this thread for all nomads to benefit from (please list in state order if possible).
