badge/ label

As much as I dont like labels, the idea has been bandied around for a badge/label
I diddled around and have come up with this, a background suggesting the blue sky, green bush, brown land, and blue sea,
maybe a talented body out there can work out how to make it multiply and give it a sticky back
have ticked the poll box,(dont know how it works) for a month
with the question ,"is it acceptacle" ?

Mike & Judy - you have obviously put a lot of thought into your design and love the concept of how you arrived at the colours. Just wonder if the colour at the top should be grey to match the natural colour of most Grey Nomad's hair, well those lucky enough to still have hair!

We're impressed by your sticker, M & J, and we're more than happy to go with yours, but maybe in the interest of a fair go for all we should invite anyone else on the forum to come up with a design / logo?  Other members could offer their creative sugestions or express their opinions before deciding on the "winning entry".

If nothing else it could be a lot of fun and I'm sure there are a few wannabe artists and graphic designers in our group who might come up with some interesting and amusing entries.

Thanks also to LadyG for resurrecting the sticker idea.

On a similar subject, Mrs Bridgee seems to recall that when we first registered on G.N. there was some offer of a free bumper sticker wonder what happened with that?

There is self adhesive plastic sheet available to make your own bumper stickers that can be printed on an inkjet printer. I don't think they last very long though.
I thought that our webmistress was working on these stickers, I recall sending away for some GN stickers via a website but never recieved them - maybe I was sposed to pay....

There is some discussion here: http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=51933&p=3&topicID=20494489

Maybe the stickers I set away for were not from this forum.... Senior moment

Ok I'm not being critical however stickers with sharp corners tend to come unstuck and I proposed an eliptical sticker to overcome this.

Someone like this could make them for us:
http://www.sticker.com.au/?gclid=CJ_UmK6_wpgCFU0wpAoddVsy0g

these people even give an online quote:

http://www.stickerprinting.com.au/sticker/bumpersticker.php#pricecheck

and here is 500 for $179:

http://www.cmykcards.com.au/specials_UVstickers.php?gclid=CPOw_7jAwpgCFcstpAodbk6p1w

Maybe we should form a sub committee, elect Dave to the Chair as he is not here....

Thanks to all for the responce
Am totally in agreement for more designs and input from all,
I was totally unaware that anything had been actually designed,
Now that Bas has a price we all want a pic to display,
my thoughts on the grey were that a lot of the ladies are not grey, ,??????? and the grey in the background would not set off the white letters so well
so Lets follow the suggestion and elect Dave as the chair and see what happens, but let us also have a time limit for all stages so it does move ahead?

I'm sort of new, and am not aware of any bumper sticker offer.
The colours of the proposed sticker are strong enough, although I think the blue could be a strong torquoise, and the brown could be closer to terra-cotta tan (as red soil). The letters must be very distinctive and legible, maybe in a pale grey colour. I find it hard to read the actual wording on the bottom on the draft version.
An identifiable shape such as oval would be more reliable as a sticker.
PR and promotion was one of my trades, and brighter is better.
Good for you for having a go, and it would be good to see fellow nomads showing the "colours".
The site administrators should probably organise the sticker concept, oversee the design and the printing.  Then the distribution should be "automatic" to those who are on board. We may have to purchase the sticker to cover the administrators' costs, as cost is a major factor in these "ideas". Great idea. I guess we'll have to watch this space.
Cheers Granny

Noted one on a van at Stockton Just a map of OZ in green and Grey Nomads printed on a yellow background, thought it may be from this forum .

Bloke had gone in the morning before I could ask where he got it about 300 mm in length

Oh dear me I hope you are not being offensive "Gay Nomads" indeed... then if you create boxes for everyone you could have "bald grey gay nomads" and don't forget the "blue rinse nomads" though they seem to have died out.....

Not bumper stickers please, a neat badge afixed to the passenger side top corner of rear window, easily seen and recognised,
Set a standard for all vehicles, about the size of your rego sticker, and we will spot it immediatly
Why Turquoise Granny
maybe that colour on the bottom bar to represent the sea of the west coast,------ goodo
next one up Tan for the deserts, green for the bush for the next, blue for the sky,
White for the letters for them to stand out, and 5 sides representing the 5 decades to reach grey hair, round of the tips so they dont peel away,
come on you all mke some more comments

Yes M&J, we agree, needs to be a striking, easy recognisable logo the same, or along the same lines, as the one you guys designed.

I think the bumper sticker was a seperate issue, a few of us digressed which seems so easy to do in this forum.

After the sticker / logo where do we go after that to get our name out there ...... a nude calender ???   It probably wouldn't be a pretty sight but at least people could see if we were natural grey nomads!!  ha ha

Whoops!!   Looks like we've digressed again!!!!

Ha ha, good one Wombat, I guess we'd better make sure our proposed logo looks completely different to that one!

So long as we don't use Harleys to tow our caravans I think we'll be pretty safe.

Never knock the nude calendar, Us Vietnam Veterans have done them and there is nothing quite as repulsive as nude 60+ year old men but hey we made a motza, and had a lot of fun doing it.....The pics were taken in a secret outdoor location.....
The digressions are what make things interesting, normal people digress, morons don't...... or so said Freud.

I did give some thought to a quality badge you know enamel that could represent the quality of being a nomad, like the ones the AAA & NRMA used to have but the cost of manufacture is the killer with these and lets not go down the "Caravan Club" road where the "corporate identity" is the cause celbre..... This should just be a way of a) promoting ourselves & b) being able to recognise each other & c0 establish some esprit de corps.

If the Website is to be mentioned on the badge/sticker/article then we mere mortals don't have much say, because we live in a democracy the website owners can take our thoughts into consideration but if this forum is to be mentioned then it is their call & their job...

I we want to produce a generic item for all GN's to use then we would have to organise ourselves to do it and and if we look closely at ourselves we are about as organised as a bag of nonpariels.

Sooooooooooooooo, what I propose is this (much to the horror of the management) A GENERIC EMBLEM that I can make into iron on transfers for T shirts etc. I could make the transfers and send them to those of you who want them and you could reimburse me for costs and iron them on yourselves to whatever you want, T shirts, golf shirts, budgee smugglers whatever (I did not mention G strings as there would not be enough space). The at some later date we could invest in stickers/badges etc as the need and ability arrises.
I rest my case....

Sounds to me as thought you have it sorted, at least it suits me
so we need input from as many people as posible to come up with a universal logo,
how easy is that ?
as far as the g/string is concerned how about a flag at a strategic location
any improvement on my design plus a reason would be appreciated
colour change for the bottom bar to turquoise, representing the WA sea shore, round of all 5 corners to stop the peeling effect, etc
once the logo is agrred on by the majority we can make a submission to the management for a badge
